Who wouldn’t want to be loved this much?? One Million is an awfully big number of kisses! This book was chosen for the month of February because it’s the month of LOVEEE. This is a lovely story about lots of adorable characters that want you to read all about them. It’s all about the special ways in which we can say how much we love and care for each other. Reading together opens up so many different discussions with children and this book will help children to feel loved and cared for as well as demonstrating to them how they can show they care too.

Every month MonkeyMoos share with you the ‘BOOK OF THE MONTH’. The ‘Book of the Month’ is read across all of our nurseries and will underpin some of the activities which the children take part in. This is to get everybody involved with the joys of literacy at nursery and also, at home too! Cosying up with a good book together is one of life’s joys.
We understand the importance of literacy in Early Childhood and, our Book of the Month can help develop all areas of learning. Reading can develop language, knowledge of the world, new maths skills, attention skills and also, develop friendships whilst exploring the book or role-playing scenarios from the book. There are so many reasons to enjoy a book together! Get involved at home too. We have a few ideas and activities that we will be doing with the children to learn about this story and all about love!
VALENTINES DAY CARDS
Let’s all join in making our very own messy Valentines cards for the ones we love or are special to us at home. You can make your own design using lots of different materials and resources you find at home. The card, above, was created using little finger prints dipped in paint but you may want to create using larger movements, and adding glue and sequins. Whatever takes your fancy! Sending a card to show you love somebody will brighten up their day, we are sure of it!
CREATE YOUR OWN ROSES.
Let us all take part in making some beautiful tissue paper roses for someone we love. You will need some colourful tissue paper and green pipe cleaner. Let’s all manipulate the tissue paper to make a roses shape and attach the pipe cleaner to the bottom for the stem. And ta-dah a bunch of beautiful roses!
ACT OF KINDNESS CHALLENGE.
Please accept our challenge for our children to join in with an act of kindness by sharing something with a stranger. It could be handing some sweets to an elderly person who lives close to you, emergency services and shop assistants. It can be a very simple act of kindness by drawing a picture. What a lovely way to show care for others! We would love to see any acts of kindness that the children may have done so do not forget to share with us.
