Happy Friday πŸ˜„

26/03/2021

Waffle day, puppy day and poetry day all in one week! We have had an amazing week this week looking at all different puppies and pretending to be puppies, learning about poetry and eating yummy waffles. Take a look at what we got up to through the week and you can see how much fun we have had learning through play.

The babies have been exploring small world cars πŸš— and the noises they make. This has been a fun way to explore the world 🌎 around us and using our voices 🎀 they have also been exploring the sensory πŸ‘€ bottles to look at colours 🌈 and appearance such as sparkly ✨.

Meanwhile the toddlers have been developing their fine motor skills πŸ–οΈwhen balancing cans to make pyramids πŸ”Ί. We worked together as a team to build and then took turns when throwing bean bags at the towers πŸ—Όto knock them down! In the afternoon, we looked at our New Guinea pigs 🐹 and spoke about how we care for them! We had to be gentle when stroking them.

At the same time, Preschool have been exploring the mud kitchen πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ and creating our own wonderful concoctions. We have used this to describe the texture of the mud and also to use our minds 🧠 to discuss what it is we are creating such as dirt porridge πŸ₯£. This has also been good for our bodies looking at which muscles πŸ’ͺ we use to mix and transport the soil 🌱.

The children have been learning about how potatoes πŸ₯” grow. We looked at different photos and spoke πŸ—£οΈ about what comes first, second, next and last. We then cut βœ‚οΈ out the pictures and stuck them in order. Afterwards we had a sneak peak at our potatoes πŸ₯” that we planted to see if they had grown at all. We have also been practicing writing ✍️ our names on the whiteboard by sounding out each letter.

They have enjoyed exploring in the animals tuff tray – it contained rice 🍚, pasta and building blocks. They enjoyed making houses 🏑 for the different farm animalsπŸ„ and used different animal sounds. They also had lots of fun climbing the logs on the field in the sunshine β˜€οΈ

We showed the children what poetry is and the children listened πŸ‘‚ well to a few of poems that we had. Then the children did a rhyming game were they had to match the sounds to the pictures.

Then we had been working on our self help skills. At lunch πŸ₯™ time we used a spoon πŸ₯„ to feed ourselves, then we had a go at putting on our slippers πŸ₯Ώ which we tried super hard. We did good πŸ‘πŸ».

The children really love painting πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨ on foil at the moment, so we put out more and different colour paints 🎨 and then we asked the children to see what they could create without any adult input. This was a child led activity and they loved it.

In babies they enjoyed using and playing with mark making equipment. They loved getting messy with the paints 🎨 and being as creative πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ¨ as they can. They used paint brushes and tooth brushes πŸͺ₯ and then used some glue and different colour pieces of paper.
We loved musical 🎢 instruments πŸ₯. We banged loudly on the drum πŸ₯ and then used our hand βœ‹ to clap πŸ‘πŸ» We also enjoyed listening to our grown ups singing 🎀 nursery rhymes.
