We have had a wonderful and busy week we have had exploring lots of different activities around the children’s next steps, interests, book of the month, country of the month as well as our curiosity days!!

For February we are enjoying the book THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLER!! This is one of the children’s favourite book in all four nurseries. The children have already been having lots of fun taking part in activities that have been planned around the children next steps, interests and that are from the story THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLER!!

We are also enjoying learning all about PHILIPPINES. The children are exploring the country through activities, maps etc. We have also invited all of our PHILIPPINESS parents/carers into the nursery to share with everyone their culture.

Our curiosity days this week were celebrating FOUR NATION RUGBY. The children have enjoyed playing rugby as well as learning all about each of the countries that have been playing rugby on the telly. We have also celebrated PANCAKE DAY!! The children have all learnt how to make pancakes they have been practicing their maths skills by measuring out the different ingredients. They have also learnt how to toss their very own pancake. The preschoolers had a discussion about what there favourite toppings are and if these were healthy or unhealthy. The children also enjoyed eating the pancakes that they had made

This morning in babies we’ve been exploring a construction themed tuff tray🏗👷. We’ve been using our pincer grip to feel the textures of the different cereals👐 and sharing with our friends👫. We’ve also been exploring all the different animals together that live in the sea🐬🐠.

Today the MonkeyMooers have been exploring our book of the month ‘the very Hungry caterpillar ‘🐛. They have been looking at the food their caterpillar eats before it became a butterfly🍭 They also enjoyed looking at all the bright colours in the book😊

😎Revisiting January’s story of the Month 🐗 The Gruffalo…. Why didn’t you know! While sitting in the book 📚 corner one of our older MonkeyMooers sat holding the story like a member of staff, reading aloud from memory the story 📖

🐦Polly want a cracker 🐦kicking off the start of our Chinese New Year and celebrating the year of the Dragon 🐉 We created a food theme tuff tray 🍜 MonkeyMooers played and taste tested prawn crackers 🍘 and noodles 🍙

Preschool and toddlers used their hands👐🏻 to make butterfly stamping onto paper using the colours green, yellow and blue🌈 . We made beautiful butterflies to match our book of the month, The Hungry Caterpillar🐛

In preschool and toddlers we created a lovely den inspired by The Hungry Caterpillar Book today📚. We had afternoon snack in the den whilst having a discussion on what the Hungry Caterpillar ate in the story🍎. It was very fun and cosy.😍

Dinosaur paper plates!🦖 The children painted half a paper plate either blue, red or green, depending on what type of dinosaur that wanted to make!🎨 We then added googly eyes👀 and tissue paper for the spikes and scales!

Counting panda’s!🐼 Our poor MonkeyMoo panda’s got all muddled up and it was our job to help them line back up! Each panda was numbered from one to ten, and the children used their fantastic maths and counting skills to line them up in order!🔢

Bob the builder!👷🏽‍♂️ The children turned into little builders today with all their amazing construction work! We used the big wooden blocks of all different shapes and sizes, to stack them up high and wide to make the most amazing buildings🧱

Today in babies 👶 we’ve had an amazing 🤩 day! 

We started the morning getting creative 🎨 making our very own heart ❤️ sun ☀️ catchers to put on the window 🪟 for February. We used our hands 🙌 and our motor skills to pick up the pink 💕 and red ❤️ tissue papers and stick them in the middle of the heart ♥️. We then watched them go on the window 🪟 and we were all very proud 🥹 of ourselves 👏. 

We then explored a tuff tray based on our book 📕 of the month which is ‘the very hungry caterpillar’ 😋🐛. We enjoyed looking at the different foods that the caterpillar 🐛 eats such as an apple 🍎, cheese 🧀 and oranges 🍊. We placed the different foods onto the caterpillars 🐛 stomach and pretended he had ate them! We then read the story 📖 and watched the caterpillar 🐛 turn into a cocoon and then a beautiful 😍 butterfly 🦋.

Magnificent 🪄Mondays in Toddlers with lots of fun and exciting activities. 

We are looking at the hungery catapillar 🐛again. But we are looking at when he becomes a beautiful butterfly 🦋 and creating our own butterflies by painting 🖼 them. Using our fine motor skills 👌 to paint on half the paper 📄 and then folding it in half to create a butterfly 🦋with matching wings.  

We also looking at the Philippines 🇵🇭 as it’s the country of the month so we will be creating our own flags 🇵🇭 for the Philippines. Using tissue paper and pva glue to spread the glue and tear the tissue paper also looking at their fine motors skills 👌in this department too.

In construction 🚧 room we will be creating towers 🗼🧱 together taking turns to put pieces of the tower together to make a marvellous 🤩structure 🗼together .

We even worked hard together as a team 👫to create the alphabet with puzzle 🧩 making if in order and taking turns to complete the amazing puzzle.

We have had a fun 🤩 packed Friday in Preschool.  

Today we have looked at the life cycle of a caterpillar 🐛 and how the life cycle works and the different stages starting from a egg 🥚 and finishing off as a pretty 😍 butterfly 🦋. 

We had lots of fun 🤩 using our fine motor skills ✋ and senses 👃 to explore a Bug finding tuff tray. We had different bugs 🐞 insects 🐜 and leaves 🍃 for them to eat. We had so much fun 🤩 exploring the mud.

We have been using our fine motor skills to hold paintbrushes 🖌 or use our fingers ✋ to make marks in shaving foam. Wr had letters in the tray and we sang the alphabet song 🎵 with all of our friends. We independently choose what marks we made in the tray.

We have had a super lovely day today!

In the morning, we had our group time! Today we looked at our letters!! We used the ice cream scoops for our bingo game of letters, this gets us focused as we LOVE ice cream! We pronounced the letter we had to match and all did super well!👆😄✏️👩‍🏫

On the field today, we went to look at some logs! We practiced our climbing skills! We climbed on logs, sat on them and used our legs to push ourselves up!  We love using our fine and gross motor skills!🌲🪜🌳

We did some imagination play in the afternoon!! We searched for bugs in wooden houses, counting them and finding their hiding spots!! We also got to do some stickle building! We made big ships, cars, rockets, and so much more!! 🚙🚀🐞🪲

Babies have enjoyed a day of playing with focused activities. They enjoyed playing with the shape sorting picnic basket and did so well to take it in turns to each put a shape through the correct hole. 👶🧺🟥🔶🔵

Babies also enjoyed mark making using different colour crayons. They sat very nicely and drew on to their paper. Once they had finished they pointed to their drawing to show their grown ups. 👶👩🖍
