WHAT A GREAT WEEK AT MONKEYMOOS

26/01/2024

We have had a wonderful and busy week we have had exploring lots of different activities around the children’s next steps, interests, book of the month, country of the month as well as our curiosity days!!

For January we are enjoying the book THE GRUFFALO!! This is one of the children’s favourite book in all four nurseries. The children have already been having lots of fun taking part in activities that have been planned around the children next steps, interests and that are from the story THE GRUFFALO!!

We are also enjoying learning all about SOUTH AFRICA. The children are exploring the country through activities, maps etc. We have also invited all of our SOUTH AFRICAN parents/carers into the nursery to share with everyone their culture.

Our curiosity this week were SNOW DAY!! The children all got to enjoy making their own snow using a variety of different sensory resources. The children also had a discussion about how snow feels, the texture as well as where it comes from. The children also learnt about BURNS. NIGHT the children all got to enjoy making their very own Scotland flag using creative materials of their choice, the children learnt when we celebrate burns night as well why we celebrate it and what food they may eat such as haggies.

What a busy Thursday!πŸŽ‰

Can we fix it?πŸ”¨ The babies turned into the next Bob the builder today, exploring the construction station full of hammers, screwdrivers, nuts and bolts to help fix the furniture around Monkey Moos!πŸ”§

We’ve been exploring the colours of the Scottish flag to celebrate burns night.🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Babies were able to explore lots of different textures in the messy tray using their fine motor skills to feel with their hands.🀲

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Happy Burns Night 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 MonkeyMoos created their very own tartan using their dominate hand πŸ– to hold their chosen colour pen ✍️ to colour in their card βœ‰οΈ to take home to family πŸ’

Preschool and toddlers got stuck into messy play, painting their hands to transfer onto paper and decorateπŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨. Everyone loved using paint brushes and their hands to apply the different colours and mixing the colours together🎨

TeethπŸ‘©β€πŸπŸ•ŒπŸ˜The MonkeyMooers were at the tuff tray today learning how to brush teeth. They had toothpaste and toothbrush to model on baby dolls as well as having mirrors to look in while they are modelling it on themselves. They had a lot of fun doing this activity as well as it being very educational!

Burns Night!πŸ“βπŸŒ

We started off our Burns Night celebrations with writing our very own poems! Robert Burns was famous for writing over 550 poems, we just had to write our own!πŸ–‹ The children decided on writing rhyming poems, with a little help from the dots we rhymed frog with bog🐸 two and through, and ball and fall!πŸ€

For morning snack, we recreated our very our traditional Burns Night dessert, Cranachan! The children used their independent skills to add to their bowls, one scoop of oats, two scoops of yoghurt, two orange slices and then a drizzle of honey on top!🍧 It was very yummy!😁

Using oats for morning snack reminded the children of one of our favourite books, Goldilocks and the Three Bears!🐻 The children sat cosy in the book corner as they listened to the story, finishing off the sentences before the adult could read them out!πŸ“š

We had one more celebration today, MonkeyMooer of the week!πŸ™ˆ This week the special award goes to…. Maria!🎈 Maria got this award for her kindness. Maria is always helping her friends who need it and will always invite everyone into her activities and games

We have had a super lovely day today!

Babies had lots of messy fun today come and take a look. πŸ‘ΆπŸ–πŸ‘€

In their tray they enjoy shaving foam with blue paint. They enjoyed pressing the paper down on to the foam and only got a little messy. They clapped their hands and had a big smile on their face when they had done the activity. πŸ‘ΆπŸ‘πŸŽ¨

Babies also enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen tray that was set up in the messy room. They enjoyed using the utensils and scooping up the mud and pouring it in to the jugs and pots. πŸ‘ΆπŸΆπŸ₯„πŸ₯£

During group time the babies did so well to join in with the actions for the nursery rhymes. At the moment they like β€œRow, row, row” and β€œWind the bobbin up”. πŸ‘ΆπŸ›ΆπŸ§΅

This Weeks Monkeymooer is Fiadh. Well done Fiadh for doing so well with the move to the preschoolers. Joining in for group time and making new friends. πŸ‘§

Happy Thursday! We have had a super lovely day today!

In the morning, we played with our new construction toolbox πŸ§°! We sat at the table with wooden blocks and our new tools πŸ› , and we used them to build! We banged hammers, used wrenches, screwed screws, drilled and chiselled, and used pliers! So many different tools!!

We then played with cars on a track! We love racing our fast cars πŸš—, so we worked with a grown up to build a track for our super fast πŸ’¨ cars πŸš˜!! We raced around the track πŸ›€, and used traffic lights πŸš¦! We know that red means STOP πŸ›‘βœ‹πŸΌ, amber means WAIT β±β³, and green means GO πŸ’¨πŸš—!

On the preschoolers walk today, we went to a small field next to a football βš½οΈ field! At the football field were big construction πŸš§ trucks like diggers! We loved listening πŸ‘‚ to the loud sounds from the diggers!

In the messy room today, we loved our mud kitchen!! We had big spoons πŸ₯„ to scoop up the mud and put into jugs and pots! We pretended to cook πŸ‘©β€πŸ³ and bake different dishes! Afterwards we went and washed πŸ«§ our hands πŸ™Œ!

Also in the messy room, we made some tissue paper flowers πŸ’! We used the colourful tissue paper and glue βšͺ️ to stick it onto our circle β•οΈ! We made flowers for our mummies, daddies, sisters and brothers!

We have had an amazing day!!
