We have had a wonderful and busy week we have had exploring lots of different activities around the children’s next steps, interests, book of the month, country of the month as well as our curiosity days!!

For January we are enjoying the book THE GRUFFALO!! This is one of the children’s favourite book in all four nurseries. The children have already been having lots of fun taking part in activities that have been planned around the children next steps, interests and that are from the story THE GRUFFALO!!

We are also enjoying learning all about SOUTH AFRICA. The children are exploring the country through activities, maps etc. We have also invited all of our SOUTH AFRICAN parents/carers into the nursery to share with everyone their culture.

Our curiosity this week were PENGUIN DAY!! The children all enjoyed learning about the different types of penguins, where they lived and what things they would eat. The children also learnt about if penguins would swim or fly and lots of other facts about penguins too.

Let’s take a look at all our fun today!

We started of our day by filling in the missing blanks to the alphabet 🔤 and the number 🔢 line. We started with our abc’s and sang 🎤along until there was a space and practice our writing ✍️ to fill in the blanks. Once the alphabet was completed it was time to count all the way to 20! And filled in the spaces as well.

Butterflies!🦋 We all love to stick and glue and talk about what we can see in the garden. It was time to turn our butterflies into something bright and beautiful! We used scissors ✂️ to cut around and then added just enough glue and used lots of different techniques and resources to create the butterflies!

As the sun ☀️ was shining we took on a balancing game. We had to see how well we could balance along the planks, tyres 🛞 and blocks 🧱. We held out our hands 🙌 for balance and waited for a safe space before we walked across, we had to be extra careful and make sure that we didn’t fall down.

Who doesn’t love a good story📚. For afternoon group time one of our MonkeyMoo friends brought in a special book 📕 for all of us to read. We all sat cosy and turned on our listening 👂 ears and listened to the fantastic book! We then read lots more stories from ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ and ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’.

Its puppet time!🐒 Our puppeteers have loved exploring the animal hand puppets today, successfully placing the puppets onto their fingers before mimicking the sounds!🐱

Peekaboo🙈 The babies have enjoyed taking part in a simple game of hide and seek with their friends on the climbing frame!🙉

Snip, snip ✂ we are back in the salon again 💇💞

Story of the month 📖 The Gruffalo….. Monkey Moos 🐵 have had a great day exploring 👀 the different textures of the tuff tray following the story 🐗

Babies have had a nice quiet day. But one of our babies have been showing off their walking skills. Smiling and clapping with proudness. Just look at him go. 👶🚶👏😃Babies have enjoyed playing with their toys and engaging well with their peers and grown ups. 👶🧸 👩

We have had a super lovely day today!

Recently our preschoolers have been loving using building 👷‍♀️ in different ways to play! We have been using building to engage our imagination 💭 and roleplay skills! We learn 🤔 a lot through this type of play. We learn about talking 🗣,  sharing 🙏, and the different ways we can use toys! 

For group time today, we looked at matching colours 🌈 to their words! The words 🔠 for each colour ⚪️ were the same colour as what they were being matched to! This activity helps our preschoolers with recognition ‼️ of words and linking 🔗 colours confidently!

Some of our younger preschoolers and toddlers enjoyed tracing some letters 🔠 and numbers 💯! This helps them practice their fine motor skills (their fingers and hands) 👏 and introduces numbers and letters! We have had an amazing day!!

Today in babies 👶 we had an amazing 🤩 day! We loved 🥰 exploring activities based on our book 📕 of the month – ‘the Gruffalo’. 

Firstly, we explored a Gruffalo tuff tray where we looked 👀 at each of the characters food 🥘. As we read the book 📕 together, We used our motor skills to scoop the ‘owls 🦉 ice cream’🍨 into ice cream cones🍦. We then used our hands 🙌 to sprinkle the ‘roasted fox 🦊’ and ‘Gruffalo crumble’ around the tray. We enjoyed picking up the ‘scrambled snake 🐍’ pasta and the Gruffalos ‘purple 🟣 prickles’ 

We then had fun 🤩 exploring the room and playing on the palace! We loved 🥰 walking 🚶‍♂️ over the bridge 🌉, crawling through the tunnel and sliding down the slide 🛝. We also enjoyed playing with all the different toys such as shakers, building blocks 🧱 and the turtle 🐢.

Wild 🦓Wednesday in preschool and Toddlers today with lots of activities to get the creative 🖍juices flowing. The country we are looking at this month is South Africa 🇿🇦 and we will be looking at many different things about the country. Today we will be creating the South African flag 🇿🇦 using our fine motor skills 👌 first to rip tissue paper and to spread the glue across the paper to stick the tissue paper on to. To have our own flag 🇿🇦. 

We have an awesome safari 🦁🐅🐘. We explored the sandy lands of the South Africa 🇿🇦 and helping the different animals 🐅🦁🐘go to the watering 💧hole to drink and wash 🧼 in. 

We also going to do some slithery snake 🐍 printing. Using bubble wrap and yellow 🟡and green paint 🎨 to create the cool designs of the snakes.

We also have some instruments 🥁 out to make beautiful sounds and music 🎶 to go along with some beautiful singing.
