We have had a wonderful and busy week we have had exploring lots of different activities around the children’s next steps, interests, book of the month, country of the month as well as our curiosity days!!
For January we are enjoying the book THE GRUFFALO!! This is one of the children’s favourite book in all four nurseries. The children have already been having lots of fun taking part in activities that have been planned around the children next steps, interests and that are from the story THE GRUFFALO!!
We are also enjoying learning all about SOUTH AFRICA. The children are exploring the country through activities, maps etc. We have also invited all of our SOUTH AFRICAN parents/carers into the nursery to share with everyone their culture.
In the morning we did some amazing drawing!! Our Book 📚 of the Month is The Gruffalo 🧌! So we did some drawings ✍️ of the Gruffalo. We looked 👀 through the book to help us draw his face! We talked about The Gruffalo 🧌 story and what we like about it; some of our friends said they liked the Gruffalo and others said they think he is scary 😧!!
All of the preschoolers today worked together 👯♂️ to build a MASSIVE race 🏁 track!! We used the big blocks to build it. We helped each other 👬 to make it really big and long! We then raced 🏎 along it with super fast cars!!
In the toddler group time today, we looked at stories 📚 and talked 🗣 about what we saw! We looked at 2 Peppa Pig 🐷🐽 books, and we loved saying all the names! We also read a book where we could touch ☝️ different textures in the book!
Today the toddlers went out with some of the preschoolers and we had a great 😊 time! We got our rainbow 🌈 parachute out and our peppa pig 🐷 ball and played some games! We bounced the ball ⚽️in the parachute 🪂 and watched it go super high! We also played football ⚽️ and did lots of running 🏃♀️!
On the preschool walk today, we went to our favourite 🤩 green bridge 🌉 and waved at all of the fast cars 🚗 that drove underneath us!! We got some beeps back and saw lots of different cars 🚘! We saw big trucks 🛻 and vans, and little cars 🚙!
Babies had a fantastic day today. They had lots of fun going out for a nice walk. It was nice being out in the sun and they also enjoyed walking through the leafs listening to them crunch on their feet. 👶🦶🍂
Babies enjoyed playing in the messy room tray. In the tray it was themed “The Gruffalo”. They enjoyed feeling the green rice and the shaving foam. They used their hands and focused really well. They also enjoyed mark making on the chalk board and painting on paper. 👶🎨 🖌
Today in babies 👶 we have had so much fun 🤩
We started off the morning getting creative and made our own sunrise! 🌅We used colour likes orange🟠red 🔴and yellow 🟡to create our sunrise 🌄 We started the activity by using our fine motor skills to dip the sponge 🧽 in to paint 🎨 and then using our gross motor skills we dabbed the sponge 🧽 around our moon 🌙 template!
We then had fun 🤩 exploring our train 🚂 tracks! We enjoyed using our motor skills to place the blue 🔵 tracks together, making a road before pushing all the different vehicles across. We also had fun exploring the different vehicles like a fire engine 🚒and police car 🚓 and made the noises they made whilst driving them along.
We also loved 🥰 looking 👀 out of the window 🪟 when it was snowing 🌨. We enjoyed pointing to the snow ❄️ and saying it.
The Toddlers had a fantastic Monday today🤩
In the creative room we explored the book 📚 ‘Elmer’s walk’ 🐘we all sat down together and read the story book 📖 we enjoyed looking at all the pictures and listened 👂really well. We spoke 🗣about what happened in the story and then it was our turn to make Elmer the elephant 🐘 as colourful as we can using different coloured duplo blocks 🧱🌈
We also had ago at doing our own mark making in the sand using magnetic 🧲 numbers. Hidden in the sand were numbers all the way up to 10🔟. We used paint brushes 🖌to explore what we could find and had a ago at copying the numbers ourselves we had lots of fun 🤩
Today in preschool we have had so much fun 🤩 using our fine motor skills 👌 to play with the play dough tray. We used our hands 🙌🏾 to mould the play dough into different shapes 🔵🔺🔷🌙. We then used the rolling pins to flatten out the day dough so we could use the play dough cutters to create different shapes and put lots of different patterns ⚡️👌into the dough. We were very happy with our creations.
We have had lots of fun in the construction room we have used our fine and gross motor skills 👌👋to make creations using the large blocks 🧱. We worked with out friends to build towers 🗼and then we knocked our towers down and rebuilt them up. We used the role play toys to fix things in the room. We used out fine motor skills to build creations out of the stickle bricks. We were very happy 😃 with what we had made.
During circle time we sat together and we picked which stories we wanted to read from the library📚 . We chose to read dinosaur farm, we spoke about the kinds of dinosaurs and what ones eat meat and what ones eat plants. We spoke about our trip to the library 📚 and the adults 👨 👩 read the different books 📕 out. We really enjoyed taking in the new books and learning new words and seeing 👀the different pictures 🖼
We have taken part in the activity Sink and float, we had a variety of different objects 🧱 and toys 🧸 and we guessed ❓what objects would sink and which would float.
What a wonderful Wednesday😊✨
For morning group time, we learned all about the importance of washing our hands!🖐🏻 In the messy tray the gloves were covered in paint, which represented the germs! We used soap and water to scrub scrub scrub until they were all nice and clean!💦
Witch hand prints!🏰 Room on the broom is still a favourite of ours at the moment, and today we decided to make our own witches using our creativity skills! We covered our hands in paint to make the body of the witch, we then waited very paiently for the paint to dry before adding pipe cleaners for the hair, googly eyes and pom pom’s for decoration!🎨
For afternoon snack, the children made their very own pizzas!🍕 We worked together to cover our pizza base in tomato puree🍅, we made sure to spread it all over! For our topping, we decided on peppers! We sprinkled the chopped up pepper all over the pizza before eating it all up!🌶

Time to make marks!🖍 The babies have enjoyed exploring different marks today using coloured pens and chalk to create their very own masterpieces!🖊
Rockabye baby!👶 We have taken part in simple role play today, rocking our babies to sleep in our arms before giving them a big kiss on the forehead!👶
