We started the week with an American celebration- Independence Day. The children were exploring landmarks of America and creating them using different resources, “how tall is the Empire State Building?” “I’ve been to America, how many days until I go again?” “How far away is America on an airplane?” These are all the types of inquisitive questions the children have been asking.

Independence Day!

Today has been full of red, white and blue! To start with we have made paper chain to see how long we could make them. We held our scissors ✂️ safely and cut the paper into lots of strips before sticking them together and looping them all around.

As building is still an interest we having been using our building and imagination 💭 skills to build the Statue of Liberty 🗽. With this we used big, small, and medium blocks as well as of all different shapes from squares, rectangles and triangles.

To help celebrate Independence Day we paint 🎨 splashed in the tuff tray to make it all bright and colourful and turned it into a big bright colourful firework! 🎆

Another way we celebrated was by having a role play BBQ 🍖 with this we dressed our babies, made sure that their teeth 🦷 was brushed and all ready to enjoy the party! Some of us helped prepare for the party by making hot dogs 🌭 and burgers 🍔 out of play dough to join in with the fun.

Hawaii day & NHS birthday

The children have been practicing their colour matching skills by matching the coloured sorting objects to the coloured pots. The children named the colours and then worked together as a team to place them into the correct coloured pot . It was great to see the children working as a team problem soling 💪🔴🟢🟡🟠👦👧

We have also been celebrating the NHS’s Birthday today by creating some amazing colourful NHS Rainbows 🌈 The children spoke about what it is the NHS do to help us and why we celebrate all their hard work. The children made some bright and beautiful pictures which I hope you enjoy at home 🏡 👨‍⚕️ 🧑‍⚕️🌈 ✏️ 🖍

In the tray we have had a mini festival 💃🕺🎉 where the children played lots of different musical instruments. We played really loud while dancing with different coloured cloths to spread colour and excitement 🎊🎹🎼🎤🥁

Out side the nursery we had a great game of frisbee on the field . The children moved their whole bodies to move around each other to try catch the frisbee .

In the baby room they have been exploring the sea and sand tray . They babies loved the lovely textures between their fingers 💧🖐

It’s national strawberry sundae 🍧day today and we have loved making our very own sundae’s! We selected an ice cream cone 🍦from the stand and added lots of soapy foam on top! We then used sprinkles🍥 and strawberry🍓 sauce to decorate them! We then fed them to our role play 🎭babies! 

Today we have also loved exploring a strawberry 🍓water tray filled with red water💦glitter and strawberry slices! We had lots of fun mixing 🥣it all together and making lots of splashes in the sunshine!

On top of this today we have also had lots of fun singing 🎶an ice cream 🍦🍧🍥song whilst using the musical instruments! 🥁🎺🎸

Today the toddlers have enjoyed celebrating 🥳 Strawberry 🍓 sundae day! The toddlers started off the morning in the garden 🪴 playing on an obstacle course and just running 🏃‍♀️ around and playing on slide 🛝 as well as the bikes 🚲. Later on when we came in from the garden 🪴 we did some activities. In the construction 🦺 🚧 🏗 room we played with puzzles 🧩 and cars 🚙 and blocks 🧱 and the small world 🌎 animals 🐻🐮🐄🐃🦭. Then afterwards we went into the creative room where we did some sundae activities. On the far table our adult 👩 kindly printed out some images of some ice creams 🍦 they were massive bigger than me! We used our fine motor skills to use the crayons 🖍 to colour in the ice creams we used all different colours! Then we moved on to the next activity which involved ice creams still but with numbers 1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣! We used our clever brain 🧠 to work out 💪 what numbers make 10 for example 8 and 2! We used our fingers to count up to 10! We had so much fun 🤩! Then we went into the roleplay room which is our favourite 🤩 room. We cut up 🆙 fruit 🍉🍓🍎🍇🍊and popped it in the blender and we also made milkshakes. We then walked 🚶🏻‍♀️over to the ice cream 🍨🍦parlour where we served our friends lots of different flavours of ice cream 🍨 and toppings ranging from chocolate 🍫, strawberry 🍓, mint chocolate 🍫 chip, raspberry ripple and vanilla. They had lots of toppings to choose from ranging from a flake, wafer and hundreds and thousands as well as sauces such as raspberry and chocolate 🍫.

The preschoolers had a wonderful day today celebrating 🥳 national strawberry 🍓 sundae day 🍨

In the tuff tray we made our own ice cream in a bag! We mixed all the ingredients 🧊🧂up and then sealed the bag💼 together and then used a tea towel to hold the bag💼 in our hands 🙌🏾 and rub the ingredients together. Once we were finished we scooped the ice cream out with a spoon 🥄 and placed it in a ice cream cone 🍦 and added a strawberry 🍓 on top! 

We also decorated our own ice creams 🍦we used colouring pencils ✏️ and crayons 🖍 to create our own flavour ice cream 🍦 we used our imagination 💭 and came up with some great ideas to show our adults 😀

We also did a ice cream 🍨matching activity! We had ice cream cones set out on the table numbered 1-10 🔟 it was our job to place the ice cream with the same amount of sprinkles ✨ on that matched the ice cream cone 🍦
