We are well and truly into the months of summer, and the children have been enjoying it! The outdoor spaces have been used to the max. Water play, building sandpits and parachute games have all been happening. We also raised awareness for the importance of bedtime story reading whilst wearing our pyjamas to nursery! We have been learning about why it is so important to stay hydrated, especially when it’s so hot. Hydration time has been introduced to keep us cool. We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Today in babies 👶 we have had lots of fun 🤩 celebrating 🥳 Garfield the Cat 🐱 day. 

We explored a sensory water 💦 activity. The water 💦 was an orange 🍊 colour, the same colour as Garfield 🐱. We put on our aprons and used spoons 🥄, bowls and colanders to move the water 💦 around the tray. The babies 👶 used their hands 🙌 to splash 💦 up 🆙 and down in the tray too. 

The babies 👶 then enjoyed exploring a muddy construction 🚧 site using diggers and cranes 🏗 to move the sawdust and mud around to different areas of the construction site. The babies 👶 moved the diggers through the sawdust pushing the wooden blocks out of the way into piles. 

The babies 👶 then liked getting the dolls dressed. They used baby grows, vests and nappies to dress 👗 the dolls 👶 up. The babies 👶 had help with putting a nappy onto their dolls.

We have had an amazing 🤩day in toddlers👫 and today we have loved using our imagination ✨to create our own small world scenes to play with! Some of us had lots of fun making a picnic🍪🧃🥪 for the barbie dolls and some of us had lots of fun with dinosaurs🦖🦕superhero’s 💥and the castle!🏰

Today we have also had lots of fun in the water💦 tray exploring different ways that water can move by using our marble tubes! We used jugs 🫙to fill and pour the water and were very excited as it travelled through the tubes! We also added lots of bubble🫧 mixture to make our own bubbles!

On top of this we worked together to build a train 🚂track puzzle 🧩and then chose which train we wanted to drive around the track!

Today in preschool we had so much fun 🤩 celebrating national Garfield 🐈day. We looked at pictures of Garfield 🐈. We independently chose different coloured colouring pencils ✏️ and we designed our own versions of Garfield 🐈 using our fine motor skills 👌.

We have created our very own Garfield 🐈puppets. We used different pictures of Garfield 🐈 and then we stuck lolly sticks onto the pictures using PVA glue and glue spreaders. We also helped make Garfield a cat bed 🛏 we used a box and looked for different materials for his bed 🛌. We used cushions and blankets and wrapped him up warm. 

While it was cool 😎 outside in the garden 🪴 we had some fun 🤩. We enjoyed going around the assortment course and then going down the slide 🛝. We had fun 🤩 cleaning 🧽 the cars in the tray with bubbly water 💦 and and sponges 🧽 and paintbrushes 🖌.

This morning some of the toddlers enjoyed coming outside to play a game and singing songs on the field. We sang a few songs and the we played a game of hide and seek. They really enjoyed this game. They did well to follow their instructions and hid behind the very tall trees. Each time a grown up found them they were very happy and excited. 👦👧🌳🎶

When the preschoolers went out to the field they did a lot of natural exploring. Today is rainforest day so being outside in the nature was the best thing for them. The children enjoyed searching for flowers and playing with sticks. They also enjoyed try to climb trees but they weren’t quick tall enough. They asked their grown ups to go and look at what they had found and shared with their friends. They had a great time. 👦👧🌳🕷🐌🪵🍃🌼🌻

On the writing table the children had pictures of different animals and insects that you would find in the rainforest. They enjoyed looking at the animals and insects and pointing out which ones they knew. Then they enjoyed a writing activity were they had to draw the patterns on the paper. 👦👧✍️ 🪳🦟🦗

In the messy room they enjoyed playing in our rain forest themed tray. Lots of soil, trees and different insects for the children to find. 👦👧🕷🦟🦗🪳🌳

In the garden some of the children enjoyed playing a game of sleeping animals. They listened to their grown ups instructions really well were very quiet at sleeping and then when it was time to wake up they jumped up and became an animal. 🐶🦁🐯🐸🐷🐮🪴

Babies have had a great day as well.

They came out with the toddlers and enjoyed singing and clapping hands with their grown ups. They also enjoyed walking around the field listening and looking at the planes in the sky. 👶 ✈️ 👀 👏

They have enjoyed playing with the toys with their peers and grown ups they really liked the noisy toys the best.👧👩 🧸

Then they had some fun with the play dough, They enjoyed making marks using duplo bricks by pushing down on to the play dough with some help from their grown ups. 👶👩🧱

What have we learned today?!…..

Playdough time! We have been learning about our maths skills and quantities of how much ingredients we needed to make the best play dough. We tipped in the flour and counted how many pours we needed before tipping in the salt, oil, and water. Lastly we needed a colour, we all stood staring at the paint waiting to see what colour we wanted. In the end we decided to use BLACK 🖤already for tomorrow Asteroid day! ☄️ As we began to mould the dough we ended up making lots of yummy tasty strawberry 🍓 cupcakes.😋🧁

We have all been learning about Eid as well today as some of our MonkeyMoos friends have been celebrating. With this we have learned that they paint henna onto their hands 🙌 so with this we decided to create our own henna design which had spots, strips, rainbows, and many for wonderful patterns.

Afterwards we took a look at one of the famous buildings which is the . As we looked carefully we wanted to create our own version of this, so we added lots of different size blocks as well as colours to make it stand out and be bold! We all worked super hard together as team and created the best building ever!

To burn off some of our steam we made an obstacle course without any help from the grown ups just from our friends! We all listened 👂 to our friends points on where to move each tyre 🛞 and where to put them. Next we formed a line before taking it in turns to go over, under, and threw each tyre before taking a big jump at the end to show off our achievements.

Throughout the day we have been showing loving 🥰 kind relationships with all our friends. We have been cheering 📣 on our friends when they are taking part in an activity, as well as giving praises and saying “well done!” And lastly the best thing all is sharing lots of hugs 🤗 and smiles.
