The weather has been just wonderful this week which means our learning has been taking place outside lots this week. There has been water play, bug hunts and of course… sand castles! We also travelled to Egypt this week as we explored our Country of the Week. Learning all about the pyramids and the weather in Egypt also. We have also been celebrating what the police do to keep us safe. Thank you to the police who visited us at Winklebury this week. Have a lovely weekend.
Perfect weather for a Barbecue!
Today we have been learning about what our favourite things are to eat at a barbecue.
At the tuff tray we had burgers, sausages, chicken, cheese and vegetable patties. Using the grill we took it in turns to pretend to cook our food. We then added them to buns and added the delicious ketchup sauce and of course the salad!🥬🧀🍔🌭 . As the sun ☀️ was shining we took our barbecue into the garden which we used our role play skills to have a barbecue picnic. 🧺
Barbecue safety! Of course when a barbecue is in place we have to be careful and watch out for danger. We all had a discussion to talk about dangers which were, don’t touch the fire 🔥, using tweezers to touch the food, always having adults with you and to do it outside and not inside. 👍🏻
Splish, Splash, splish! 💦 the sun ☀️ Is out and we cooled down in the water. We created bubbles 🫧 by pouring in lots of bubble mixture and stirring it all together. We then added different size containers 🫙 to see which one would fill up to the top and fall out the quickest!
Animal 🦒 twister! As it was barbecue day, we of course had to play a barbecue garden activity. We rolled two 2️⃣ different dices one of body parts and the other as animals. This helped us with our balancing skills as well as turn taking skills.
Today babies 👶 have had a lovely 🥰 morning playing in the moon 🌙 dough activity. They used different play dough cutters to make shapes into their moon 🌝 dough. They squeezed the dough into their hands to feel the soft texture.
They explored Egypt 🇪🇬 day! They found hidden gems 💎 in red tissue paper. They moved the tissue paper and picked up the gems 💎 then they named the colours they could see.
Later on they made lots of marks 〰️ when colouring in their Egyptian jars🏺. They picked up the crayons 🖍 using their fine motor skills and began to colouring in their pictures.
Then they pretended to be builders 👷♀️👷♂️when building pyramids ⛰ with the sensory blocks🧱. They stack them up. They also began shaking them listening 👂 to the beads rattle.
The preschoolers had lots of fun today celebrating 🥳 Egypt day🇪🇬
We had lots of fun doing a jewel hunt in the water 💦 tray, the tray was filled with blue 💙 water, and it was our job to find🔎 as much the sequins and jewels 💎 as we can😀
In the construction room we made our own pyramids out of the big building blocks🧱 we put our construction 🚧 hats on and worked together to create a big pyramid🏖 using the pictures surrounded around the room to help us 😄
We also decorated our own Pharaoh 👑 masks🎭 we used the print out pharaoh to help us and then used the different coloured crayons 🖍 to get creative and see what we could create, we loved showing our adults what we had made😊
In the role play room we had ago at writing our own hieroglyphs. There was lots of hieroglyphs on the table for us to look at and see 👀 we then had a try and make our own hieroglyphics🦜 and marks on paper 📄It’s national Egypt 🇪🇬day and to celebrate in toddlers we have loved exploring a sensory desert themed tuff tray! 🏜🌵We used our magnifying glasses🔍 to look for and count how many camels🐪🐫 we could see in the desert! We also loved exploring the different textures of the hay, sand, cereal and ice cream cones! 🌵
We then had lots of fun learning how to build a pyramid🔺 out of our wooden building blocks! 🧱We looked at the 3D pyramid and worked together 🤝to build our own pyramid!
On top of this we then learnt more about Egypt by learning about the pharaoh’s by wearing masks 🎭to bring them to life! We also had lots of fun dancing💃🕺 to Egyptian music with musical instruments!🎶🥁🎺They really enjoyed playing outside in the water 💧 tray splashing the water 💦 with their hands 🙌 and scooping up the water into cups. They made the wheels spin around and pouring water onto them. They sat in the tent and looked at the the pictures in the books 📚 and sat on the seesaw.
What a great day we have had today. It’s Police awareness week and the police came to nursery to visit and to talk about everything police related. The children listened and asked questions about them and the police officer answered back. They even brought the van and the children had a great time having a sit in it and pushing the siren button. What a brilliant morning. 👦👧👮🚨🚓
Babies also had lots of fun coming out to the police van and sitting in the van. 👶🚨🚓👮
They also made police I.D badges ready for the police to come. They each drew a picture of them selves and wrote there names and then wore them throughout the day. The children were so excited. 👧👦👮
On the table we had different pictures of police men and ladies and the children enjoyed colouring them in using different colours. 👦🖍
