We took a trip to Brazil this week as we learnt all about the country. A particular favourite was learning about their celebrations and carnivals. The children enjoyed decorating masks to join the carnival. High Five to all our friends! We also celebrated High Five day, which originated in America. The reason behind the day was to see how many people you could make smile by giving them high fives, a lovely day to get involved with. The sun has made a much needed appearance, summer pending…

Down by the station🚂 The Monkey Mooers took to the tuff tray to explore the small world train station. The children teamed up to complete the track by fitting the parts together to make different routes and bridges for the trains to go across to get to their next destination.🛤

What letters can you recognise?🔠 Some of the children took to the blackboard to see how many letters they could remember before practicing their writing skills by copying the letters using chalk to write with. ✍🏼

What objects can you see?👀The Monkey Mooers enjoyed taking part in an activity over in the construction area, where they noticed different objects scattered around the mat along with outlines of the objects drawn on the paper. An adult encouraged the children to match the shapes up to their outlines before attempting to trace around an object of their choice such as a triangular block and a bus.🔺🚌

Time to talk about the weekend!☀️ The children loved listening to each other discuss what they all got up to over the weekend. Some of us ventured to a living rainforest, some of us went to Brighton for a beach day and one of our friends liked talking about their weekend in Devon with their family!🏖

Texture Time!👃👀 The Monkey Mooers took to the garden to explore their natural environment through closing their eyes and feeling the textures with their fingers before guessing what they can feel such as: soil, wood chips, grass and sand.👋🏻

Roll up…. Roll up for some ice cream!🍦Over at the mud kitchen, our bakers took part in a cafe role play consisting of making different flavoured ice creams and noodles to sell for one dollar to each of their customers. 💵

The babies 👶 have had lots of fun celebrating 🥳 Brazil 🇧🇷 day today! 

They have been mark making on pictures of the Brazil 🇧🇷 flag using green and yellow crayons 🖍 and chalk. The babies 👶 used their fine motor skills to use their crayons 🖍 to mark make. 

The babies 👶 spent a lot of time in the garden today, playing in the tunnel with the cars 🚘. The babies 👶 pushed the cars 🚘 through the tunnel before going on top 🔝 of it. The babies also read lots of books 📚 outside and inside too. 

A bit later on the babies 👶 enjoyed playing with our musical 🎶 dinosaur 🦖 with Megan. The babies 👶 listened to what yummy 😋 food 🍱 the dinosaur 🦖 wanted before Megan helped them to find them, pushing the food 🍱 into the dinosaurs 🦖 mouth 👄.

Happy Wednesday 🤩! Today we’ve been exploring Brazil 🇧🇷 , doing different activities based on the culture 🎶 and the fun things you may find in Brazil! 

In the creative 🎨 room today we explored the Rio 🦜 the movie 🍿 tuff tray. The toddlers played with the different characters from the movie 🎥 including the dog 🐶,birds 🐦 and the people 🚶🏼🚶🏻‍♀️. The toddlers used the character to explore Rio and all the different scenes. They explored the sandy beaches 🌊.the sunny 🌞 rainforest 🌲 and the busy town 🏠 ! 

In the role play 👗👔 room the toddlers discovered that Brazil 🇧🇷 has lots of beautiful 😍 parrots 🦜! The toddlers did a search 🔍 in the sand tray to see how many different coloured ❤️💚💜 parrots 🦜 they could find.

Finally in the creative 🎨 room the toddler made their own Brazilian 🇧🇷 flag using their hands 🙌🏼! The toddlers dipped their hands 🙌🏼 into green 💚paint and printed them onto small pieces of paper 📄 to create flag.

Today in preschool we have had so much fun celebrating 🥳 Brazil 🇧🇷 national Day. We have had fun looking at animal puzzles 🧩 we matched the pictures 🐷🐮🐻‍❄️ of animals to what they are called✍️. We enjoyed matching them together. We then sang old McDonald had a farm 🧑‍🌾 together.

We have gad lots of fun sight seeing at the beach 🏖. We enjoyed walking in the sand ⛱and making sand castles 🏰 with our friends. We used spades to collect our sand. We then used sand castle moulds 🏯and we filled them up with sand 🏖and turned them over to create lovely looking sand castles 🏰. 

We have looked at a Brazil 🇧🇷 tuff tray. We looked at the Amazon rain 🌧 forest 🌳 and the different creatures 🪲🐛🐜🕷and animals 🐍🐸🙉🐅🦎that live there. We spoke about the different plants 🌱 and trees🌲. We helped our bus 🚌 cross a very big bridge 🌉. We explored all the different textures with our senses and using our hands 🙌🏾 to explore the tray.

We then used our fine motor skills to decorate our very own head dresses for the Brazilian 🇧🇷 carnival 🎡. We chose what different colouring pencils we wanted to use to colour in our lovely head dresses.

Today is high five day and the children loved our messy activity in the messy room. On the table in messy room the children enjoyed painting their hands and finger tips. They used lots of different colours and with a grown ups support to help them if they needed it. 👧👦👩🎨✋

At the maths table we had a colour activity set up for the children to take part in. There were 4 different colours and we had 4 different colour objects of things and the children had to match each object to the correct colour board. Once that had done this correctly we then high fives each other as today is high five day. 👧👦✋🟠🔴🟣🔵

Also in the messy room we had a fun bug finding activity. In the tray there were soli, bugs and magnifying glasses to help the children find the bugs in the soil. 👦👧🔍🕷🐛

During snack time the children enjoyed cutting up their own fruit. They were given a knife and pieces of fruit and once their food was cut up they enjoyed eating it all up. 👦👧🔪🍌🍎🍐🍓🍊

Babies have enjoyed their water activity tray in their room. The water was blue and had sea creatures. They loved splashing with their hands and picking up the sea creatures and looking at them. 👶✋🐳🐬🌊💦
