Today I want to be a mermaid, tomorrow a doctor! At MonkeyMoos, we can explore and be anybody we want to be. This week, we have been mermaids, been doctors and also taken a trip to Paris as we celebrate our National Days. Learning all about the Eiffel Tower supported our Maths skills, there was lots of language such as ‘It’s taller than me’, ‘How do we reach the top?’ Some children also told us about their trips to France, a great way to share our own experiences. We have also been enjoying being outside in the afternoons, now it isn’t dark so early. Summer is well and truly on the way!

Bright red play dough! 🔴 We had lots of fun making play dough. We all gathered around the table in the art area, after collecting all the ingredients that was needed. Next we took it in turns to pour on item in at a time. Next we decided we wanted to use the red 🔴 paint 🎨. We squeezed and squeezed until we had lots of red paint. We then used different tools from cutters, scissors ✂️, and rolling pins to create different objects with the dough.

Outside in the garden it was raining ☔️ but that didn’t stop us! We put on our wellies and our coats 🧥 and then raced to find the puddles, that the rain had left behind. After we had splashed in the puddles we used the soap 🧼 and poured it into the left over puddles to create more puddles and best of all bubbles! 🫧

Whilst outside we have shown a big interest in bugs 🐛, and wiggly worms!🪱 Over at the tuff tray there were leaves 🍁, sticks, mud and all sorts of bugs of different shapes and sizes hiding underneath. It was our job to find them and return them to the bug city were they belonged.

Lucky dip letters,🔤 over in the messy tray it was filled with flour and sieves. Hiding underneath all the flour were letters, our job was to use the sieves to scoop the flour to see which letter we grabbed. After we had bowls 🥣 , and spoons 🥄 to create tasty letter cakes! With letters as a interest we used the letter beanbags to recognise our letters, next we got to throw beanbags into the basket 🧺 to score!

Party Time! In the afternoon we celebrated our friends Ella, Eva and Ilsa’s 4th birthday! We had a big party full of dancing 💃, singing 🎶 balloons 🎈 and rainbow ribbons. 🌈 This was then followed by a delicious picnic 🧺 treat that they had brought in to share. We then enjoyed and finished of with a slice of chocolate 🍫 cake!🎂

The babies 👶 have had a lovely day celebration 🎉 mermaid 🧜‍♀️ day. 

Firstly we liked using our fine motor skills and gross motor skills to make different marks ➿〰 on a big picture of a mermaids 🧜‍♀️ tail. They used different coloured crayons 🖍 and chalks to make the mermaids 🧜‍♀️ tail all pretty 🤩. 

The babies 👶 later on liked painting some pictures of mermaids 🧜‍♀️ using lots of different coloured 🔵🟢🟡🟣 paint 🎨. The babies 👶 picked up the paintbrushes 🖌, dipped them into the paint 🎨 and then moved the paintbrush 🖌 across the paper 📑. 

In the afternoon the babies 👶 got to explore a mermaid 🧜‍♀️ garden 🪴. In the tray was some different shades of green 🟢 tissue paper shredded up, hiding 🙈 pictures of mermaids 🧜‍♀️. The babies 👶 used their fingers to rummage through the paper to find these mermaids 🧜‍♀️.

Toddlers👫 have had a wonderful 🤩Wednesday today and we have loved celebrating national mermaid 🧜‍♀️day by exploring a beach 🏖themed mermaid tray! We used our imagination ✨to pretend play 🎭with our mermaid characters 🧜‍♂️to make them swim in the water to search for gold and treasure!🏆👑🔱

On top of this today the toddlers have loved 😍exploring the water 💦tray which was filled with a variety of flowers 💐and petals! 🌸We searched through the flowers to find all of the mermaids 🧜‍♀️🧜‍♂️that were hiding amongst them!

Today we have also taken a trip to the spa to role play 🎭as beauty therapists! We practiced our independence to cut the cucumber 🥒and then used face masks 🖌and rollers to put on the faces in the tray!

We have also been practicing our colours 🟡🟢🔵🟣🔴today by playing a colour matching game! We named each colour of mega block 🧱and matched them to the correct colour mats that were on the table! We had great fun 🤩working together 🤝to match all of the colours to the correct spot!

The preschoolers had a Fantastic day celebrating national mermaid day🧜‍♀️✨

To start off the day we made our own dancing 💃 rice🍚 in The little mermaid🧜‍♀️ inspired tuff tray! Our job was to add all the ingredients together and have a look at what happened👀 we added water💦 rice 🍚 and blue food colouring💙to a big bottle. We then added the bicarbonate soda and watched the rice dance away! 

We also decorate our own mermaid crowns👑for this we used different coloured paints🎨 crayons🖍 and colouring pencils✏️ this was very fun! After we had let they dry, with support from our adults we cut them out so we could be mermaids 🧜‍♀️for the day😀

We also had the opportunity to decorate the last animals for the spring display board🌼 today it was our turn to decorate the butterflies🦋 for this we used lots of colourful paint🎨 we used cotton buds as our paint brushes🖌to add little dotty details☺️

We also had lots of fun playing in the water tray💦 with all the small world animals🦈 there was seashells, seaweed and lots of small world sea animals for us to play with🐠this was lots of fun!😄

Today the children have enjoyed stomping and roaring with dinosaurs. Dinosaur are a big part of the children’s play and are constantly out for them to play with. This activity was who can stomp and roar just like a dinosaur. They all did so well at being a dinosaur. 👦👧🦖🦕

In our tray we had different building blocks. The children had to build a tower and see who could build the tallest. The children built high and when it all feel down they started all over again. 👦👧🌆🏗🧱

The children enjoyed playing ring games and songs with some of the babies. They held their hands and sang “ring a ring of roses“ and ”Old Mac Donald”. The preschoolers held the babies hands and they all had lots of fun. 👦👧👶✋🎶

This afternoon the children have enjoyed drawing pictures. They used colouring pencils and all took it in turns to share the colours that they wanted. 👦👧🖍✏️🗒

In our messy room the children have enjoyed making bunny’s. They used cardboard tube in a shape of a bunny and then on a paper plate they are printing it using pink paint. 👦👧🎨

In the tray the children enjoyed playing with spaghetti. The spaghetti was different colours and the children did well to name the colours. 👦👧🍝🟣🔵🟢🔴

Babies have enjoyed mark making on their mark making board. They used the magnetic stick and drew large movement marks and when finished pointed to their grown ups to look at what they had done. 👶👩✏️
