This week, MonkeyMoos have been creative and have been making their very own kites for ‘National Kite Day.’ Will they fly? How do we keep them in the air? Are they too heavy? These are some of the curious questions the children have been asking this week. Why not get involved at home and go kite flying at the weekend? A great way to spend some time.

We have also been learning a new skill, Ballet! Point your toes little ones! Some of the children have been able to show off their talents and share their dance experiences with the other children. We have also enjoyed a day full of all things pizza related! The children have made their own pizza’s, role played pizza restaurants and also discussed their own visits to pizza places too. Another great week!

Today the babies 👶 have loved doing some painting 🖼 for ballet 🩰 day! We used a paintbrush 🖌 to dip into pink paint 🎨, and move across the paper 📄. The babies 👶 developed their fine and gross motor skills from this before getting their hands 🙌 rather messy from the paint 🎨.

The babies 👶 have also loved playing on the palace, climbing 🧗‍♀️ the steps, crawling through the tunnel and sliding down the slide 🛝, WEEEE! 

The babies 👶 have also enjoyed feeding the musical 🎶 dinosaur 🦖 his food 🍇🫐🥔 listening 👂 to the noises and music 🎶 the dinosaur 🦖 made.

In toddlers had sun a fantastic 🤩 day at nursery and really enjoyed ballet 🩰 day ! In the creative room we had a ballet 🩰 themed tuff tray. In the tuff tray we made our very own ballerina 💃 skirts out of tissue paper and ribbon 🎀. The toddlers had so much fun 🤩 dressing up as ballerinas and were very excited 😆 to dance 🕺 and jump around. 

In the role play room the toddler got to dance 🕺 just like ballerinas 💃! The toddlers danced in circles and twirled around 🔁 just like a ballerina 🩰 would . They had so much fun being silly 😜 with all their friends 👫. 

Finally in the garden 🪴 today we had a competition of walking 🚶🏼 the plank ! Each toddler , one at a time , had a go at walking 🚶🏼 along the plank like a pretty 😍 ballerina 🩰. Some of the toddlers imagined 💭that underneath them was crocodiles 🐊 so they couldn’t fall in! It was so much fun 🤩 having to carefully walk 🚶🏼 across the plank without falling in!

Today in preschool we have had a wonderful day celebrating national ballet day. At carpet time we read lots of stories independently about ballerina’s 🩰. We read stories 📚together as listened closely while the prationer read📖 the stories out to us. We learned lots about ballerinas. 

We made our very own ballerina’s 🩰. We used a cocktail stick 🦯 , we then put the cocktail stick through a up turned cupcake case 🧁. We then used our fine motor skills to dip marshmallows into red coloured sugar🍡 and we then attached our decorated marshmallows to our sticks and cupcake cases to create our ballerina’s 🩰. 

We created our very own ballerina Wands. We created our Wands by using sticks 🦯and we then independently used scissors ✂️ to cut the size ribbon 🎀 we wanted. With some assistance from the practitioner we tied our ribbons 🎀to our sticks. We then later on used our ballerina Wands 🪄while we were listening to music 🎵 . We danced 💃around the room with are Wands with big smiles on our faces 😄. 

We created our very own science experiment 🔬. We used rice, water, red food colouring, water, bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. We had a large pot with a beaker we added rice from the tuff tray. We then used a water jug and added water to the pot. We used teaspoons and added bicarbonate of soda to the pot. We then used a cup to add the vinegar to the pot. With some assistance from a practitioner we added food colouring to the pot. We then mixed it all together and waited to see what happened. We watched as the pot created with a magical liquids and nearly overfilled.

Let’s fly a kite! 🪁

Where will our kites fly to?💭 In the tuff tray we had all different kind of resources from paint to sequins, which we could use to design our own kites.🪁 Once they were made they got to test them out in the windy 🌬 garden. We had to run 🏃‍♀️ up lots of speed to see it in action.

Using our mathematical knowledge we had number kites🪁 and Cheerios. With this we had to identify the number kite we had 🔢 and then had to add the correct amount of Cheerios to watch it fly. Some of our kites took a trip to dinosaur 🦖 land whilst other went to Henley.

Which tools to choose? Using a range of different tools we were able to practice writing ✍🏼 familiar letters. We had written our names as well as family members name. We did this by using paper, paint, and whiteboards! 🎨

Jenga! Today we learnt a new game. Using different shaped blocks we built a big big tower and then took it in turns to remove a block carefully without it falling over! This was great fun as each time it fell down we wasn’t expecting it which ended up in tummy fulls of laughter! 🤣

Today we have been getting creative using our art and crafts skills to make dance ribbons 🎀 and designing our own ballet shoes. 🩰 We then moved around as light as a feather 🪶 whilst copying some Ballet moves.💃

Our arts and crafts skills didn’t stop there! We then added more art resources and created our very own ballet pictures. They consisted of fairies 🧚‍♀️, shoes 🩰, and castles. 🏰 We got to use, sequins, crayons, glue, feathers and everyone‘s favourite STICKERS!

Can you move like a ballerina? In the afternoon we all tried some ballet moves. We all stretched out our muscles 💪 ready to dance. Some of us had colourful ribbons as we then moved slowly and peaceful along to the music. 🎶 Once we were confident in the moves we then took it in turns to pick a number from one ☝️ to five ✋and then made the move.

In the garden we have been enjoying relaxing on the beanbags and reading 📖 story books. 📚 ‘wheres Wally‘ has been a favourite were we had to work together to use our eyes 👀 to find out where he was hiding!

Wibble wobble we went as we balanced our way across the blocks. We worked together to make the blocks into an obstacle course for us to use. We then lined up in a train 🚊 line as we waited for it to be safe for us. We then balanced by putting one foot in front of the other and using our hands 🙌 for extra support.🧗

Today the children have enjoyed playing a game of kicking the ball in the goal. They took it in turns to be the goalie and to be the player. They listened well to their grown ups and played nicely together. 👦👧👩⚽️🥅
This afternoon the children enjoyed exploring our sensory tuff tray. In the tray we had lots of different foods and different colour paints for them to dip the food in. Once they did this the children pressed the food down to see what patterns and shapes it would leave on the paper. They focused well and enjoyed this activity. 👦👧🍎🥔🍞🧇🖌🟣🔵🟢🔴
In babies they enjoyed playing with the sensory small balls. They enjoyed rolling them to their grown ups and felling the different textures. 👶🤲⚽️🏈🎾
