What a fabulous week we have had at MonkeyMoos.

06/02/2023

We took a trip to France (in our nurseries) at the beginning of this week to explore their culture and their fabulous cuisine. The children enjoyed trying croissants and pain au chocolates, delicious! There has also been lots of discussions about hedgehogs as we explore them and their habitats- using our wonderful outside spaces to think about where they may live and what they may eat. We ended the week exploring a much loved character, as we celebrated their birthday- ELMER! Any excuse for us to have a party and celebrate. Happy Birthday Elmer!

We kicked off the day by taking a visit to France exploring our tuff tray full of different pastries from France πŸ‡«πŸ‡· scattered around the tray were croissants, pain au chocolates, cheese twists, baguettes and pancakes for the children to explore the French cuisine. πŸ₯–πŸ₯

Next, the children ran their own group time over in the home corner, taking it in turns to do the Tick Tock songs such as β€˜good morning’ and β€˜days of the week!’ Before singing their own songs to each other. 🎡

Afterwards, a group of children sat in a circle and had a picnic on the home corner carpet with their own babies, bringing their own food with them such as: bread, watermelon, milk, spaghetti hoops and pineapple sharing the healthy balance of food amongst each other. 🧺

Outside, the Monkey Mooers enjoyed taking part in a game of catch, standing in a triangle formation to throw the ball to one another, calling each other’s name before throwing and catching the ball.⚽️

ITS A RAINBOW! 🌈 The sun β˜€οΈ has been shining which means we have spent a lovely amount of time in the fresh air. We got the chalks out and worked very hard as a team to follow the tracks to make a beautiful rainbow. 🌈 We then wished for it to stay for ever and ever!

To end the day, we had a mini disco where all the children showed off their funkiest dance moves to classic party songs. The children enjoyed holding hands and dancing as a group and doing solo dances to show off moves such as: the funky chicken, hip shaking and jumping up and down.πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί

Today has been a fun filled day , We have enjoyed .r potato head characters using lots of delicious πŸ˜‹ vegetables 🌽πŸ₯•πŸ₯”πŸ₯¬πŸ₯’ the children also learnt what vegetables where in the tray and where they grow. We talked about healthy eating and why we need to eat healthy. We also used child friendly knifes to cut the vegetables to promote our fine motor skills along with practicing to cut our foods at meal times .
Pre school went out into the field to play some exciting ring games. We practiced using our listening ears and following instructions. πŸ‘‚ πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™‹We had lots of fun also running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ around remembering to stay in our safe space 🦺
Inside some children practised their numbers by playing a game of hop scotch 0️⃣1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣4️⃣5️⃣6️⃣7️⃣the children were amazing balancing in one leg as they counted their jumps to the next number sequence πŸ‘β
In the baby room there was lots if sensory activities, their favourite was shredded paper play ! The ladies hid some exciting things in the paper for the babies to find , this encourages the babies to dig deeper until they found their hidden gems πŸ’Ž πŸ‘ΆπŸ§’πŸΌ
We hope you have a great evening!
See you all soon 😊

Today the toddlers had so much fun 🀩 celebrating hedgehog πŸ¦” day! In the creative room today we made our very own hedgehogs πŸ¦” using play dough for the body and spaghetti for the sharp spikes. We started off with brown play dough in the shape of the hedgehogs πŸ¦” body. We added paper πŸ“„ eyes πŸ‘€ to the play dough to create the face of the hedgehogs, so that they could see their way around in the dark πŸŒ‘ . We also covered the table in leafs 🍁 so that the hedgehogs would feel safe and at home 🏠. All the toddlers used their imagination πŸ’ to create what they thought a hedgehog πŸ¦” looked like. And they all had so much fun 🀩 playing with the hedgehogs πŸ¦” once they had finished making them!

Also in the creative room we had a wizard πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ of oz themed tuff tray! We followed the yellow brick road in search for each character to help us get to emerald city! We found tin man in some silver foil and then found the lion in the sand! We then found the scarecrow hiding in the hay!

In the garden πŸͺ΄ today we all looked for hedgehogs πŸ¦” ! We used plastic scrapers to brush ✍️ away all the mud and leafs 🍁 to reveal the hidden hedgehogs πŸ¦”. The toddlers where very excited πŸ˜† when they found all the hidden hedgehogs πŸ¦”.
