Another week closer to spring! We have had another week of exploration and fun at MonkeyMoos. All 3 sites have been celebrating our National Days. On Monday, we all put on our hats for a mad-hatters tea party as we celebrated ‘National Hat Day’. Wednesday was all about celebrating an old friend- Winnie The Pooh! We couldn’t celebrate the day without having honey too, delicious. Finally, Thursday was ‘National Popcorn Day.’ As well as celebrating these fun days, we also followed the children’s current interests. What a jam-packed week we have had.

We have celebrated 🥳 hat 🎩 day by making little hats 🎩 out of play dough. We used different templates making hats 🎩 for the queen 👸🏼 and for a scarecrow. We used our hands 🙌 to push down on the play dough, before pushing a hat 🎩 shaped cutter down into the play dough. 

We have liked playing with the happy land toys, using the castle 🏰 and people. We used our hands 🙌 to pick up the people to move through and around the castle 🏰. We also moved some animals 🐘🦛🦓 around the castle 🏰 and over some blocks. 

We then ventured off to play with the wooden train 🚂. Taking the blocks off and placing them back over the holes 🕳 again. We then enjoy moving the train 🚂 across the floor saying “Choo choo!”

We have had a marvellous🤩 Monday in toddler today! As it is national hat🧢day we decided to have our own mad hatters 🎩🐇🫖tea party! We role played 🎭with different food items 🥨🍗🧁to describe each yummy food and we then practiced our independence by pouring 🫗our own cups of tea! 🫖☕️

Following this in our role play 🎭room we read the story📚 of Hamilton’s hats! 🐷🎩🦒⛑As we did this we looked at the pictures of each hat and then role played with our small world people to see which hats they were wearing! 🤴👮‍♀️👲👷🏻‍♂️👩‍🌾

On top of this we had lots of fun 🥳having a winter❄️ bbq🧑‍🍳🍖🍗 and wearing our chefs hats! We used the large building blocks to build🧱🛠 our own bbq and then pretended to cook lots of yummy food on it! 🍽

Today in preschool we have had a fun packed day celebrating 🥳 our national hat 🎩 day!!!! 

We have looked at lots of different hats 🧢 and took turns in trying them all on. We spoke about where we would wear these hats. Eg: sun 🧢 hat at the beach 🏖️and a beanie hat In the winter 🥶 . 

We also made an amazing big top hat 🎩 with lots of different colourful resources paint 🎨, tissue paper, and glitter!!! 

We became builders 👷‍♀️ and made sure we wore our safety hats 👷‍♀️ while we worked and built lots of different houses and towers. 

We then had a happy birthday 🎈 tea party and all wore our party hats 🥳 and had a cup of tea and birthday cake in our role play room.

During toddler group time we explored the tuff tray. The children stood around it and we talked about the numbers on the building and how many bricks they needed to add on to their buildings. They all did well to focus and listened really well. 👦👧👩🧱👂🏙.
In the maths area the children enjoyed playing with the matching number puzzle. We did this activity at the table and the children did really well to match and know their numbers. 👦👧🔢🧩
In the messy room the children wanted to look at books, so some of the children brought down books in to the messy room and sat down at the table. They did nicely to engage with each other and talked about their books. 👦👧📚
In the tray in messy room the children enjoyed making marks in the flour. They used lots of different things to mark make and was happy I use they resources we had to make marks. 👦👧🧱🔢⚽️ 🖌✏️📏
In the babies they enjoyed building with their grown ups with the duplo bricks. The children stacked them together and did some really good sharing skills. 👶🧱👩
They also enjoyed practising their walking feet and enjoyed walking around the nursery with their grown ups close by. Just look at them go. 👶🚶‍♀️🚶👀

Pop! Pop! Pop!

Today is popcorn day, and what better way then enjoying a MonkeyMoos cinema experience! The tuff tray was set up all cosy with blankets and cushions to make it cosy for everyone. Each child had to take a ticket on entry bevfore taking a seat. Next they all individually had own popcorn cups and got stuck in straight away as a tasty snack! 🍿🎥🎫

Flying popcorn! One of the exciting activities were seeing how many popcorns we could catch! Whilst we all sat down in a circle we waited for the instructions and then threw the popcorn high up into the air and watched as it fell back down and we had to quickly grabbed all the popcorn that we could. We then used our maths skills to see how much popcorn we had. 🔢🍿🫴

Which will leave the best mark? Using popcorn and popcorn seeds, we had to see which one would leave the best mark. Using paint and different tools to create each mark was the best as we all got messy whilst seeing which was the winner and the winner was…… both!🍿🎨

How else can we use popcorn? We created some letters! Using our literacy skills we were able to form some letters. We practiced as many letters as possible and with the tricky ones we used the dot method so we knew how much popcorn we needed to add on.🔤👆🏻🍿

This afternoon we also had the MonkeyMooer of the week, this week was…..Eva! For showing amazing talent with creating and drawing!🙌

Over all it has been a fantastic popcorn experience at MonkeyMoos!
