The week began with some crazy storm weather, the children were struggling to stand up, it was so windy! We have also explored the lemons and oranges for one of the National days and of course we had to get involved with St Patricks Day! We have also been fundraising for comic relief and the children all found it rather funny to wear their pyjamas to nursery to promote the good cause. We hope you all have a lovely weekend, remember to send us photos letting us know what fun you got up to!
Letβs save a spider! π·οΈπΈοΈ
Today we have been learning all about spiders! π·οΈ We have started of by looking at pictures of spiders and talking about the sizes of them as well as how many legs 𦡠they have. This led us to draw our very own spiders, we turned over all the pictures and pulled out a mystery spider and got to draw βοΈ the one βοΈ we pulled out. We used crayons ποΈ and pencils βοΈ to draw and create our own versions. Some of us created 5οΈβ£ legged spiders whilst others created 8οΈβ£ legged spiders.
Hide and seekβ¦ where could the spiders π·οΈ be?π―οΈ Outside in the garden we were on the hunt for the spiders. We looked up β¬οΈ and down β¬οΈ and all around and we found them all hiding in the webs! πΈοΈ We rescued the spiders and added them to the big city. After saving all the spiders π·οΈ we still wanted to save all the bugs πͺ± so we went on a worm hunt. As it has been wet and raining βοΈ we managed to find lots and lots of worms of all different shapes and sizes.
Wibble wobble we went across the obstacle course. We all worked together to pick up the large blocks π§±and added them to the wood chips were it was safe for us to climb on. We all lined up in a straight line and waited for it to be clear before balancing our way across at the end we had 2οΈβ£ choices between walking down β¬οΈ the plank or jumping high into the air.
How will you create your name? Exploring name writing βοΈ is a big interest at the moment and what better way to explore than using paint! π¨ We picked out the coloured paint we wanted to use and either dotted the letters or using different strokes with our fingers.π
Oranges and Lemons!!!!!
Today in Baby room, we have had so much fun!πΆπ€© We have been celebrating Orange πand lemon π day, with a range of different activity.
This morning the babies enjoyed splashing π¦in a water π§ tray full with cups, βοΈbowls π₯£and lots of oranges π and lemon. πUsing the cups, the babies scooped up the water π¦ and poured it back into the tray or into bowls. The babies πΆ also used the cups βοΈto scoop up the oranges π and the lemons π to move them into a bowl. π₯£
The babies have also been exploring in the big tuff tray, which was full of play dough that were the colour of orangesπ and lemons π‘and slices of oranges π and lemons π for them to explore with. The babies squeezed βand rolled the play dough with the hands, βwhile talking π£about the colour of them and what they are going to make. They also explored with the oranges π and lemons. πUsing their senses the babies tasted π and smelt πthem and said if they were Yummy πor Yucky! π
The babies also did a little bit of painting π¨ for the birthday π board. They painted some Easter π£ egg π₯ pictures with lots of bright pastel colours! πΈπ‘π·π£
Happy π Thursday ! Today π at nursery the toddlers really enjoyed celebrating π₯³ oranges π and lemon π day!
In the role play πππ©±room the toddlers learnt the makaton sign for orange π. The toddlers said the word βorangeβ why making a hand π€πΌ sign near their face π§. They squeezed that hand shut βas if they were squeezing an orange π .
n the construction π§ room the toddlers used different tools π§° to squish the sliced oranges and lemon π. They used hammers π¨ and chisels π to squash the fruit and make the juice π§ splatter!
Finally in the creative π¨ room the toddlers learnt how to cut πͺ up oranges π and lemons π and some of them even chose to try them π. The toddlers held a knife πͺ in there hand π€πΌ and pushed it back and fourth against their fruit to cut it into slices. The toddlers had so much fun π€© being independent and loved π₯° watching all the juice π§ come out of the fruit.
Today in preschool we have had so much fun π€© celebrating oranges π and lemons π day. We have enjoyed playing with orange πand play dough on play dough mats . We used our handsπ to mould the play dough into a shape. We then used rolling pin to flatten out the play dough. βΊοΈWe then chose egg cutters to use on our dough and we cut our dough into different shapes.π΄πΊ
We have explored a science π§ͺ lemonade tuff tray. We used teaspoons π₯and added bicarbonate into a jug, we then used a teaspoon π₯to add the sugar and then used our hands to hold the lemon juice into the jug. We then added waterπ¦ to our jug. We then gave it all a good stir and we watched π our lemonade bubble π«§up the jug. With some assistance we poured our lemonade into a cup.π«
We have used oranges π and lemons π to print with. We used our hands to pick up the lemon or oranges π we then used our fine motor skills to dip the oranges π and lemons π into yellow and orange paint. We then made different marks across the page using our fruit it was lots of fun π€© we created masterpiecesπ
Hope you have had a good day today.
Today is βMad hair dayβ and he children have come in with some incredibly mad hair. Just take a look at them. π¦π§
At the small world area the children enjoyed decorating their own masks. The children used different colour felt tip pens and told their grown up when colouring they were going to stay in the lines. Once the masks were all coloured they enjoyed cutting them out to wear them. π¦π§βοΈπ¦ΈββοΈ
At the literacy table the children coloured in a big red nose. The children were told to use a red pen or crayon or pencil but the children just wanted to make their noses multi colours. Once the children had finished they showed us their end results. π¦π§π΄ππ΅π’π‘π£
Later in the day the children enjoyed making mad hair play dough pictures. They used different colour play dough and added the play dough to the picture to make the hair. The children were very impressed with what they had made and couldnβt wait to show their grown ups. π¦π§π
Babies have had lots of fun exploring their new toys. The toys that they have enjoyed was the a magic water mark making mat. They did well to hold the pen and mark mark on to the mat. A grown up was there to help them. πΆπ©ππ΄π’π£π΅π‘
The second new toy that they enjoyed exploring was the water sensory baby mat. The babies laid on their tummies and enjoyed watching and pushing the water to see the sea creatures move around the mat. πΆπ¦ πππ³π¬
