In step with the EYFS

Doing what early years is asking for

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted are clear: less paperwork, more time with children, and staff who are supported, coached and trained. The Mothership helps us do exactly that.

1

Less paperwork

The Department for Education wants to reduce unnecessary paperwork so practitioners can spend more time with children. Our admin is automated, so you can.

2

Eyes on the children

The EYFS says assessment shouldn't take staff away from children or create excessive paperwork. We keep it simple and child-focused.

3

Supervision and coaching

The EYFS expects regular supervision, coaching and training for every member of staff. With admin off their plate, our managers have the time to do it properly.

4

Wellbeing that matters

Ofsted looks at how leaders support staff workload and wellbeing. Less admin means a better work–life balance and healthier, happier minds.

What this means for you

  • More time teaching and caring, less time on forms
  • Managers with time to mentor and coach you
  • Regular supervision and a clear training path
  • A better work–life balance and a healthier mindset

In their words

From apprentice to leader

Real stories from our team.

“My time as an apprentice felt like it went so fast here at MonkeyMoos. I had a great team around me offering support as and when needed, helping me in areas I felt a little unsure on. Using what I have learnt has helped me become a better practitioner, and once completed I was offered a step up in my role. I felt confident for my End Point Assessment, which resulted in me achieving a distinction.”
EllaLevel 3 Senior, Highdown
“Being able to work alongside the children while completing my apprenticeship gave me valuable real-life experience. I felt fully supported by all the staff, including the Deputy and Manager, and I was regularly praised and encouraged for my hard work and progress. I have worked my way up to my current role as Deputy, and I've continued to receive the same support and encouragement.”
ShannonDeputy Manager, Highdown
“I have nearly finished my Level 3 qualification. I have struggled at times but have always been given time out to complete work, and I have a Friday morning to study. When the work felt a lot alongside everyday life, Shanice or Kayleigh stepped in and gave me what I needed to work through it. I've been discussing room lead roles once I'm qualified, so I cannot wait for the next step.”
RhiannaApprentice, Huntley Wharf
“When I left school, I started my journey at MonkeyMoos, and from the very beginning I have always felt supported and encouraged. I started my Level 2 while working at MonkeyMoos and was given time out of work to complete my coursework, research and focus on my studies. I then started my Level 3. I have always found written work difficult, but everyone within the company continued to believe in me, supported me and pushed me to keep going. I have worked my way up to my current role as a manager, and I'm still encouraged to keep learning every day.”
LeighaNursery Manager, Winklebury
“I started at MonkeyMoos on my Level 2 Apprenticeship. It was a big challenge at first and I struggled in the beginning, but the company supported me throughout and helped me build my confidence and skills. I successfully completed my Level 2, which I was incredibly proud of. I then progressed onto my Level 3, which I found much easier thanks to the experience and support. Now I'm so close to finishing my Level 3 and excited to see what I can achieve next.”
